Vijaya Baskar (Vijay) brings 15 years of progressive work experience in the field of child rights and child protection. Prior to joining KCS, Vijay worked as a Program Coordinator at Protect and Save the Children, in Malaysia. In this role, he advocated, both at national and regional level (South East Asia), on advancing child rights and improving child protection mechanisms. As part of Operation Thereva, he coordinated with and provided support to the UK National Crime Agency, (CEOP) for implementing the community child safeguarding activities with the children and their families.
During his tenure as Senior Program Coordinator at CHILDLINE India Foundation, Vijay has initiated and provided training to child helpline partners in more than 10 locations in the South of India. During the tsunami rehabilitation phase, he was given the challenging responsibility to initiate, train and coordinate the child helpline in the Andaman and Nicobar islands. In 2007, he also managed the training of the child helpline team in Maldives.
Vijay’s core competency areas include programme development, programme management, training, child safeguarding auditing, advocacy, policy analysis, policy development, case management, networking and partnership building. He holds a Master degree in Social Work from Madras Christian College, in India, and a certificate on Corporate Social Responsibility Foundation and Reporting by the Malaysian Institute of Management.
