Keeping Children Safe Full Member, the British Council, will share experiences and best practice in engaging senior management to implement child protection strategies. The presenters will share the work undertaken to address the challenges of non-engagement and inconsistent engagement of senior managers.  

Learning points from the webinar include:

  • How to identify organisational risks
  • Challenges and mitigation strategies to address these risks to ensure children are safe.
  • Clear articulation of leadership, accountability and responsibilities  

About the presenters: 

Eelco Vugs – Regional Child Protection Manager East and South Asia – British Council, based in Manila Philippines

Eelco has extensive experience in the child protection sector and has worked more recently in the Netherlands and Australia in frontline, investigative, judiciary and leaderships roles. He joined the British Council in 2014 and is responsible for implementing the global Child Protection Strategy and Policy in 21 countries across East and South Asia.

Denise Eastwood – Child Protection Manager – British Council, based in Head Quarters, LondonDenise has worked for several children services and education departments in various roles in London for most of her career. She joined the British Council in 2010 and was a founding member of the newly formed global child protection team. Denise is currently the Child Protection Communications Manager and is also responsible for supporting the implementation and mainstreaming of the British Council Child Protection Strategy and Policy in the Education and Society strategic business unit and UK region.
