Keeping Children Safe Toolkit
The Keeping Children Safe: A Toolkit for Child Protection is a complete package for people working in safeguarding children across the world. It aims to support agencies at international, national and local levels to put these standards into practice. This is a revised toolkit with new material from Child-to-Child Trust to incorporate child participation in child protection.
The toolkit provides practical guidance, tools, support materials and an easily digestible DVD. The standards and exercises provide a good basis for the development of effective measures to prevent and respond to violence: from awareness raising strategies to safeguarding measures. They offer an excellent opportunity not only for the improvement of the quality and professionalism of those working with children, but most importantly, it will help to achieve a greater impact for children.
If put in place the toolkit’s simple policies and procedures will significantly strengthen child safeguarding in an organisation.
The Toolkit has five components:
Tool 1 – Keeping Children Safe: Standards for Child Protection, outlines the basic standards required for all organisations working in child safeguarding across the world - download this free from the link at the bottom of this page.
Tool 2 – Keeping Children Safe: How to Implement the Standards, a resource pack that provides guidance and activities to help you and your organisation meet the standards
Tool 3 – Keeping Children Safe: Training for Child Protection, a pack of flexible training exercises and materials to help you and your organisation train staff to meet the standards
Tool 4 – Keeping Children Safe: Children‘s Participation in Child Protection - a pack of flexible exercises and materials to use with children on child protection
Tool 5 – A DVD – to support and help with training and implementation of standards. - a series of films to support training.
These standards have been taken up by the Department for International Development and many of the leading international development organisations in the UK.
