The Keeping Children Safe Coalition (KCS) toolkit is a complete package for people working in child protection across the world. The KCS Toolkit aims to support agencies at international, national and local levels to put child protection into practice. It has five components:

• Tool 1 – Keeping Children Safe: Standards for Child Protection details the basic standards for all organisations working or in contact with children across the world.
• Tool 2 – Keeping Children Safe: How to Implement the Standards provides guidance and activities to help you and your organisation meet those standards.
• Tool 3 – Keeping Children Safe: Training for Child Protection is a pack of flexible training exercises and materials to help you and your organisation train the staff to meet the standards.
• Tool 4 – A DVD accompanies Tool 3 to support and help with training.

Additional material is available on CD Rom for you to amend and adapt.

Currently, officially approved translations of the KCS toolkit are only available in Engish and French.

Translations into various other languages have been provided by individual member agencies of the Keeping Children Safe Coalition as well as groups of agencies cooperating in the local context. These translations are no doubt adequate but are not officially approved as they have not been checked and verified by a KCS translator.

KCS Factsheets

The Coalition has also produced a series of factsheets to guide organisations on keeping children safe in disasters and emergencies and during food crises. These factsheets also help organisations consider specific child protection concerns for children living with HIV/AIDS and children who have a disability. And the Coalition has also produced a factsheet to guide organisations on the role of HR in child protection.

The translation of the KCS Standards (Tool 1) into Russian was provided by Save The Children UK; The African Child Policy Forum and EveryChild translated tool 1 into Kiswahili.
